Pope Francis began his homily with Deuteronomy 8: 2, "Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands."

The pope's messages are really important teachings and reminders of the substance of our faith that we should not be overlooking. It is very easy to forget these facts when we get used to church routines and simply following the order of the mass without real reflection on the meaning of each part of the mass.
In my opinion this homily calls us to be reflective on what we do at mass and how it relates to our daily lives.
