11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5 some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7 When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna![a]”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[b]
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
These events set into motion Jesus's crucifixion.
John 12:17 -19
17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”
The Religious Spirit that was dominating the religious leaders hated what was going on.
Luke 19:37-40
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”[a]
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
The Religious spirit is so intimated by the reverence and the honour and the praise that he is getting that the spirit that would crucify him later that week was already being set in motion. This was a purpose determined by God beforehand. [Acts 4:27-28]
Five lessons from Jesus' entry into Jerusalem
1) Jesus moved in the word of Knowledge [Mark 11:1-2] Jesus had seen the colt in the spirit. He was aware of it in the spirit. He had also seen Nathaniel in the spirit [John 1]. Jesus had seen him under the fig tree in the spirit. Jesus lived in the spirit as normal as we live in the flesh. He knew how to live in two dimensions at once. We need to pay attention to what is going on in the spirit by word of knowledge. Supernatural word of God.
Steps: Spend time praying. Get clues from God. Hear words e.g. names of people you will meet at particular location God has given you clues on. Step out and meet the people. This called moving in words of knowledge. Get word of knowledge supernaturally and use that to minister into people's lives. Move on the information you do have.
2) Jesus' word in our mouth is as powerful as His word in His mouth. [Mark 11: 3-6] God says any words I put in your mouth is as powerful as my words in my mouth. They simply said what Jesus had said. That is what real prophecy is when we declare what God said. This shift everything and people will come in agreement with it and actually do the unthinkable, the unimaginable. God gives us the ear of the learned so that we might have the tongue of the learned. [Isaiah 50]. Quit speaking about the situation nad prophesy God's words into the situation. Call those things that are not as if they were. The disciples simply said what Jesus said.
3) We are the donkey [Mark 11:2] that God wants to ride into every situation. He wants us to carry his presence into every situation. Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." Those are those who know how to turn at the slightest nudging of the one that they are carrying. That is what God wants us to be. He wants us t be his donkey so that we can carry the very glory of God the very presence of God into every situation. We submit under his lordship.
4) Jesus wants to free us from indecision. You don't have to pray about everything. If it floats your boat then do it. Apart life changing decisions, quit praying over every little thing.
5) Cities are moved as Jesus comes in. [Matthew 21:9-10] 10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
We need some people, a church, a ministry, a people who can carry Jesus into cities so that the whole city is moved at the awareness of who he is.
