Definitions Passion Sunday is the fifth Sunday of Lent, marking the beginning of Passiontide. Passiontide is the last two weeks of Lent. [3rd – 16th April 2022] This is a period of intense praying by Christians praying morning, evening and midnight. The second week of Passiontide is Holy Week ending on Holy Saturday. [10th – 16th April] Good Friday is the day Jesus was crucified on the cross and his death at Calvary. [15th April 2022] Holy Saturday [also known as Black Saturday, Easter Eve]. Holy Saturday marks the day Jesus' body lay in the tomb and the period between his crucifixion and his resurrection. [16th April 2022] Easter Sunday, also called Pascha and Resurrection Sunday marks the day of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. [17th April 2022] Scripture references: Genesis 12:1–3, "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Hebrews 9:11–15 11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. 13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! 15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
